Art Therapy

Maria Carmen studied Business Administration and Management and worked for years as a businesswoman and public employee. However, a few years after becoming a mother, she realized she was repeating patterns she disliked. This realization led her to embark on a journey of personal growth, choosing art therapy as her path.

She took refuge and found nourishment in nature and sports. Activities such as caving, climbing, mountain biking, mountaineering, and diving became her solace. Today, she lives in the countryside, and in her free time, you will find her in the mountains or on the beaches.

She trained experientially for four years in various artistic disciplines, including painting, sculpture, theater, movement and dance, photography, and voice. After completing her training, she stayed at the school for another four years, serving as a tutor for a new cohort of art therapists. Through this process she experienced a transformation which inspired her to decide to leave her job as an economist to support individuals and companies through individual and group art therapy. Since then, she has continued her education, completing training in Grief Therapy, Therapeutic Approaches to Sexuality, Systemic Coaching, Psychocorporal Therapies, Sacred Geometry, and Jungian Art Therapy. Her love for learning and diversity enriches both her understanding of the human experience and her professional practice. In addition to her therapeutic work, she has published one book Escritos Aflorados and is preparing to publish two more.

Currently, she works as a freelance art therapist with adults, families, teenagers, children, and companies.

Since 2021, she has collaborated with a psychiatrist in her area, gaining experience working with individuals diagnosed with the conditions she now addresses in her practice. She is also a proud mother of two sons, aged 21 and 19.
