Explore the assessments alongside each topic’s resources. Each page explains whether it uses a screening questionnaire or guided self-reflection, how to use the result and where to find support.
These are starting points for a conversation. They cannot confirm or rule out a condition.
Use a calculator to clarify a quantity. Use a diary or planner to organise what matters to you. When a result raises questions, explore the related topic resources or take a summary to a clinician who knows your circumstances.
If you are considering care at THE BALANCE, our admissions team can talk through your situation and explain the assessment process.
Questions & answers
Frequently Asked Questions
Where should I start?
Choose a calculator for a specific question, such as how much alcohol a drink contains. Choose an assessment to reflect on a pattern of symptoms or experiences. A planner can help you prepare a next step. Each page explains its purpose and limitations.
Can an online assessment tell me whether I have a condition?
An online assessment cannot establish a diagnosis. Some assessments use a named screening questionnaire; others offer guided self-reflection. The page identifies the format so you can understand what its output means. A clinician considers symptoms, history and individual circumstances.
Do I need an account or email address?
The calculators, planners and trackers provide results without an account or email address. Their entries stay in the current browser tab and are not sent to THE BALANCE. You choose whether to download a copy or contact admissions separately.
Can I download a diary or plan?
Yes. Calculators and trackers provide a downloadable record, planners create a text outline, and each tool offers a print option you can use to save a PDF. Downloaded files stay under your control; the website does not keep a copy of your entries.
How do the tools connect with treatment?
Each tool links to the relevant topic resources and treatment information where appropriate. If you would like individual guidance, a confidential conversation with admissions can help clarify whether THE BALANCE is a suitable setting.
