- Det är inte något som är trevligt men de allra flesta människor kan kontrollera detta.
- Genom olika strategier kan man lägga band på sina känslor och inte nå en nivå som upplevs som mindre trevlig ör en själv eller de omkring en.
Det kan hända alla att man brusar upp eller att man reagerar starkt på något. Till och med starkare än vad man själv tycker är önskvärt. Det är inte något som är trevligt men de allra flesta människor kan kontrollera detta. Genom olika strategier kan man lägga band på sina känslor och inte nå en nivå som upplevs som mindre trevlig ör en själv eller de omkring en.
Samtidigt finns det människor som har verkliga aggressionsproblem. Det finns olika orsaker men oavsett vad som ligger bakom är det något som är obehagligt både för personen med problemen, men även för personer i han eller hennes närhet. Det kan påverka sociala relationer i alla delar av livet och kan äventyra ens anställning. Men hur vet man om man har aggressionsproblem?
Det finns vissa tydliga symtom och mönster som upplever aggressionsproblem i vuxen ålder uppvisar. Det är så att denna typen av problem, precis som sjukdomar av olika slag, har vissa specifika beröringspunkter som gör att man kan identifiera dem. Det handlar dels om att kunna svara på frågan “vad är aggressionsproblem” men även för att kunna avgöra om det är det en person lider av.
Det är viktigt att komma ihåg att varje människa är unik och det gäller även för hur den specifika människan uttrycker vissa beteenden. De generella symtomen är ofta de samma även om de varierar i styrka och frekvens hos olika individer. Det är även så att även om de generella symtomen överensstämmer mellan olika individer så finns det utrymme för variation.
Grundläggande symtom
Det finns vissa grundläggande symtom som visar att man har aggressionsproblem. Ett av dessa är att man har svårt att hantera sin ilska då man i en situation känner hur den uppstår inom en. Gemensamt är att situationen inte spelar så stor roll. Personer som har svårt att hantera sin ilska upplever svårigheter att dämpa denna i många olika situationer och kontexter.
Det kan dels vara i situationer där det inte finns en faktisk motpart. Exempel på dessa kan vara om man slår i en tå, halkar på en isfläck eller tappar en förpackning mjölk, för att nämna några. Samtidigt så upplever man detta problem med kontroll över sina känslor i samband med situationer där det finns en specifik mänsklig motpart.
Vi upplever dagligen sådana situationer. För vissa handlar det om att man blir knuffad av någon som försöker ta sig förbi, det kan handla om att någon antyder något som man inte håller med om eller tycker antyder något om en själv som människa. Det kan även vara att en granne stör på något sätt. Det är viktigt att komma ihåg att detta endast är exempel.
En tredje situation är när man blir upprörd över något som en grupp gör. Ett typiskt exempel är när man sitter i trafiken och har fastnat i en kö eller att man retar upp sig över vad ens politiska meningsmotståndare tycker.
Oavsett situationen så är det mest grundläggande symtomet på aggressionsproblem att man brusar upp och blir arg på ett sätt som inte står i proportion till oförrätten. De flesta klarar av att hålla sig lugna när grannens matos drar in genom ens öppna fönster. De får inte en stark reaktion när trafiken går sakta eller om någon säger något som kan ses som ett angrepp på ens person.
De allra flesta klarar av att hantera sina känslor och få kontroll på dem så de inte blir allt för starka och orsakar problem. Men de med aggressionsproblem klarar inte av att ha denna kontroll. Deras känslor passerar en gräns för vad som är allmänt accepterat och det är inte svårt att föreställa sig de problem detta kan medföra.
Sekundära symtom
Man kan skilja de grundläggande symtomen från en andra grupp av symtom som är sekundära. Detta är symtom som inte är de huvudsakliga men som tillsammans med den tidigare gruppen visar på en helhetsbild.
Ett vanligt symtom är att humöret för de med aggressionsproblem ändras snabbt. För de flesta så byggs ett humör upp över en tidsperiod. De som inte lider av denna typ av problem kan se tydligt hur olika detaljer ledde till en öka irritation som därefter ökade på grund av olika faktorer. Personen som har problem med sitt humör beskriver ofta hur de plötsligt befinner sig i en situation där de är väldigt ilskna. De kan inte tydligt berätta om hur de hamnade där.
Dessa personer är ofta lättirriterade. Det gäller i de flesta av livets områden. Även om de inte inser det själva så kan deras anhöriga och närstående berätta om hur personen har en grundsinnesstämmning som är irriterad och att de ofta letar efter saker att hetsa upp sig över.
Men på samma gång så är det inte bara irritation och ilska dessa personer känner. De känner glädje, kärlek och alla de andra känslorna som andra människor känner. Problemet ligger i att en av dessa känslor inte går att kontrollera.
När en professionell behandlare, exempelvis en psykiatriker, tittar på en persons problemområden så är det genom att försöka få en helhetsbild. Det handlar om att i ett första skede prata med den aktuella personen. Man genomför en intervju där man vill se hur personen själv upplever sina problem och vilka negativa effekter detta har på personens liv.
Man vill se hur det drabbar familjelivet, relationen till vänner och den utökade familjen men även arbetssituationen. Man vill även veta om problemen lett till att man med anledning av dessa har blivit föremål för brottsutredning, om man blir fysisk och slåss eller slår i sönder saker med mera.
I ett andra skede vill samlar man information från personer som har står i relation till personen. Det an handla om en partner eller barn, det kan även vara andra familjemedlemmar eller vänner. I vissa fall kan man inte få tillräcklig information av dessa personer kring hur det påverkar arbetssituationen. Då pratar man med personens arbetsgivare. Alla dessa kontakter sker med personens samtycke.
Den samlade informationen samt samtal med personen vid olika tillfällen skapar en grund för att ställa diagnos. Det finns andra saker som spelar in dock. Man vil gärna utreda orsaken till problemen och man vill utesluta andra psykiatriska tillstånd.
Som vi tidigare varit inne på så finns det olika orsaker till att aggressionsproblem uppstår. Dessa avgör hur behandlingen utformas.
För vissa så grundar sig problemen i att man har en blodsockernivå som stiger och faller under dagen. Detta kan bero på diabetes och kan då insulinbehandlas. Men det kan även vara att man har en känslighet för blodsockerfall och att det orsakar humörändringarna. Många personer kan då hjälpas av att man motionerar mer regelbundet och att man äter mer regelbundet.
På så sätt kan man se till att ens blodsockernivåer är stabila och att de inte faller under dagen. I dessa fall så krävs oftast inte ytterligare interventioner.
En det finns även andra orsaker som kan ligga bakom problemen. För de där man inte kan hitta en orsak som lätt kan behandlas så kan det vara aktuellt med medicin och terapi. Genom att lära sig identifiera när man håller på att brusa upp så kan man få kontroll på sitt humör.
Det kan röra sig om att man tar en lugnande medicin i dessa situationer eller att man aktivt tar kontroll över situationen. Detta är en process som tar tid att lära sig och det sker genom olika former av kognitiv beteende terapi (KBT) först om främst.
I samtalen med sin utbildade KBT-terapeut så tittar man på i vilka situationer ens aggressionsproblem uppstår och vad som utlöser de starka reaktionerna. Tillsammans med sin terapeut så tar man fram strategier för att hantera sitt humör. Dessa strategier liknar ofta de som andra personer lärt sig som barn, men som man själv inte fått med sig i livet.
På detta sätt kan personer med aggressionsproblem få hjälp att hantera ilska och aggression. Även om man inte själv upplevt att det har varit ett problem, så kommer man märka en tydlig skillnad i livskvalitet när man lärt sig använda dessa strategier. Inte bara blir familjelivet enklare. Ven relationer till vänner och arbetskamrater underlättas.
Det handlar inte om att helt släcka en persons förmåga att reagera och bli upprörd. Däremot handlar det om att reglera när man når de nivåerna och hur det uttrycks.
Om man har en känsla av att någon i ens familj eller närhet har problem med aggressioner. Eller om man rent av själv känner att det är något man bör ta tag i. Då finns det en rad olika tester man kan genomföra. Genom att söka på aggressionsproblem och test i valfri sökmotor kan man hitta ett gratis test online.
Det är dock viktigt att komma ihåg att dessa test endast ger en fingervisning kring om man har dessa problem eller inte.
