- Att höra de störande ljuden, som andra inte kan höra, har påverkan på allt från sömn, koncentrationsförmåga och mycket mer.

Att drabbas av tinnitus är något som påverkar en person i hög grad. Att höra de störande ljuden, som andra inte kan höra, har påverkan på allt från sömn, koncentrationsförmåga och mycket mer. I många fall kan man få bort den tinnitus man lider av, i andra fall är det inte möjligt. Men för de flesta går det att minska besvären.
Att lida av tinnitus innebär att man av någon anledning har fått en skada på, vad man kallar, hörselsinnet. Det innebär att man någonstans i det system som döljer sig bakom örat har fått en skada. Denna kan ha uppstått av att man utsatts för buller av olika slag. Med buller avser man ljud som är högre än en viss nivå.
Detta kan ha uppstått om man inte har haft hörselskydd när man arbetat inom industrin, varit på konserter med för hög volym eller en av många andra anledningar. Men det är inte alltid som skadorna som leder till tinnitus beror på buller. Många upplever att de får sämre hörsel och börjar lida av tinnitus då de blir äldre.
Men det kan även bero på olika sjukdomar som har haft påverkan på hörselsystemet, både direkta öronsjukdomar och andra former av åkommor. Tinnitus kan även vara en biverkning på vissa mediciner och man har kunnat visa att både depression och ångest kan orsaka tinnitus. Det är inte alltid som man kan härleda orsaken till en persons tinnitus till en specifik händelse eller liknande.
Man kn inte säga att det ljud man hör när man har tinnitus låter på ett speciellt sätt. Detta då det skiljer sig från person till person. Vad som går att säga är att det är störande och att påverkar många delar av den drabbades liv. Ljudet märk också mer om man befinner sig i en tyst miljö oh det är vanligt att man hör det som mest när man ska sova då det normalt är mycket tyst då.
Väldigt många svenskar har tinnitus. De absolut flesta har inte så stora problem av sin tinnitus att de behöver behandlas. Deras vardag påverkas inte till den grad att de söker vård för sin skada. Men det finns en del av de drabbade där behandling är viktigt. Detta är om man störs väldigt mycket av det.
Har man problem med sin tinnitus till den grad att man upplever att man blir mer irritabel på grund utav den. Eller att man får problem med koncentrationsförmågan, känner sig nedstämd eller att den stör ens sömn. Då ska man absolut söka vård. Man ska även söka behandling om den tinnitus man upplever är stark och plötsligt har uppkommit.
Detta då det kan vara tecken på annan skada som måste behandlas. Om ens tinnitus följer ens puls eller om man endast har det på ena örat bör man också söka vård. Ett annat tecken på att det är dags att söka hjälp är om ens tinnitus blir värre vid fysisk ansträngning eller stress. Samma sak gäller om den inte förvinner av sig själv inom ett par veckor.
I vissa fall bör man söka behandling omedelbart. Det är exempelvis om man blivit utsatt för höga ljud och med anledning av det fått en kraftig tinnitus. Eller om ens tinnitus uppstått plötsligt, är kraftig och det inte finns en rimlig förklarning till varför den uppstod. I dessa fall kan man kontakta en vårdcentral, det finns ofta en jouröppen sådan. Först efter att man gjort det bör man gå till en akutmottagning.
Om man vill undvika att få tinnitus eller minska de besvär man har om man redan är drabbad. Då finns det saker man kan göra själv. Ett första exempel, som alla människor borde följa, är att skydda sin hörsel. De organen som är inblandade i att göra det möjligt för en person att överhuvudtaget höra är väldigt delikata och kn lätt ta skada.
Om man arbetar i en bullrig miljö så är det viktigt att använda hörselskydd. En bullrig miljö kan vara allt från att arbeta med maskiner som låter mycket, att arbeta nära tungtrafik eller på annat sätt spendera tid i miljö där ljudvolymen är hög. Samma sak gäller om man går på konserter där volymen är över samtalsvolym.
Dessa skydd kan bestå av hörselkåpor som “kapslar in” öronen och stänger ute störande ljud. I dag finns det väldigt moderna varianter som endast stänger ute de ljud som kan vara farliga. Detta innebär att man fortfarande kan ha ett samtal med någon när man har skydden på sig. Det kan även handla om klassiska öronproppar.
Även öronpropparna har mer avancerade varianter idag. Det finns fortfarande de klassiska i skumgummi som man pressar mellan fingrarna och för in i hörselgången, de expanderar när de är på plats och stänger ute de flesta ljud. Men precis som med hörselkåporna så finns det moderna varianter.
Det finns de som reducerar farliga ljud, men även de som är gjutna efter just det individuella örat. Denna sista typ är populär bland musiker. De behöver skydda sina öron på ett effektivt sätt och utsätts dessutom för de höga volymerna på en, nästan, daglig basis. Det är då värt att lägga lite extra pengar på öronproppar som gör ett riktigt bra jobb.
Om man redan är drabbad av tinnitus så kan man exempelvis sätta i gång musik i bakgrunden när man ska sova för att dränka ljudet som ens tinnitus skapar. Det blir ofta mer behagligt att somnat då. Man kan även försöka att stressa mindre och ge sig själv tid att koppla av och meditera. Detta har visat sig hjälp många.
Spänningar i axlar och nacke samt i käkarna kan vara en orsak till besvären. Genom att massera dessa områden och se till att man slappnar av så kan man få bukt med problemen.
Om man söker vård för sina tinnitusbesvär så finns det flera olika behandlingar att testa. Men man ska komma ihåg att även om många blir av med sin tinnitus helt, så är det en del av de drabbade som aldrig helt slipper sina besvär. Dock kan man i de flesta av dessa fallen minska besvären avsevärt.
När man inom vården undersöker om någon är drabbad av tinnitus så finns det inga instrument eller undersökningar som kan visa om man är drabbad eller hur allvarligt drabbad man är. Det finns alltså inga objektiva mätmetoder. Vad man gör är att lyssna på personens historia och beskrivning av besvären. Däremot kan man rent medicinskt se om det finns synliga skador på hörselorganen.
Man utreder då om dessa eventuella skador kan vara det som orsakar tinnitus hos personen.
I vissa fall kan det räcka med att behandla de eventuella skador man upptäckt i hörselsystemet. Då är chansen god att personens tinnitus försvinner helt. Finns där inga uppenbara eller behandlingsbara skador så är det ofta så att man får nöja sig med att minska de besvär som personen upplever.
Övriga sjukdomar som kan orsaka tinnitus bör ven de behandlas innan man går vidare till andra områden. Det kan handla om smärtproblematik, rörelsehinder eller olika psykiska besvär. Man ser även över hur personen lever sitt liv, med fokus på hur mycket stress personen upplever i sin vardag. Att hantera stressen i sitt liv på ett adekvat sätt kan ofta vara avgörande.
Många med tinnitus får träffa en öronläkare eller en audionom som kontrollerar personens hörsel. Om man kommer fram till att ens hörsel har blivit försämrad så erbjuds ofta någon form av hörapparat. Denna tekniska lösning kan även minska den upplevda graden av tinnitus.
Det finns gott om kroppsliga besvär som kan skapa en tinnitusproblematik hos en människa. Bland dessa så finns det flera olika smärttillstånd. Det kan handla om smärta och stelhet i nacke och rygg eller att man har smärtor i lederna. I dessa fall så är fysioterapi, massage och kiropraktik effektiva behandlingsformer.
Många går under lång tid med spänningar i käkarna. Detta kan bero på att man gnisslar tänder när man sover, att man omedvetet spänner ihop käkarna eller på grund av andra anledningar. I käkarna går många nervbanor som är sammankopplade med partier runt och öronen. Detta kan i sin tur leda till tinnitus.
För att få hjälp med detta så går man till sin vanliga tandläkare eller en tandläkare med specialistkompetens.
Det har visat sig att olika former av terapi är effektiva för att behandla tinnitus. Exempelvis så är KBT, som står för kognitiv beteendeterapi, en form som ger goda resultat för vissa med tinnitus. Målet är då att lindra de besvär en person upplever. Detta sker genom att personen som har tinnitus får lära sig olika metoder ör att minska de besvär som kommer med tinnitus.
Att lära sig hantera dessa innebär för många att man kan att man kan leva ett vanligt liv med hög livskvalitet. Det kan handla om att lära sig hantera de sömnsvårigheter som kan uppstå som ett resultat av tinnitus. På samma sätt angriper man de eventuella koncentrationssvårigheter man har. Tinnitus kan även orsaka strass, att man blir irriterad och att man blir spänd.
Med hjälp av KBT så lär man sig nya beteenden för att underlätta livet med tinnitus och hur man förhåller sig till de besvär som uppstår. Det finns även specifika terapiformer som är utvecklade med tinnitus i åtanke. En sådan är TRT, en förkortning som står för tinnitus retraining therapy. Denna typen av terapi består av två huvudsakliga delar.
Dels en del där man tillsammans med en utbildad terapeut får råd kring hur man kan hantera sina besvär. Men även en del där man stimulerar örat med hjälp av ljud. När man genomgår behandling med TRT är aldrig målet att få bort ljuden som orsakas av tinnitus. Det man vil uppnå är att man förändrar hur personen reagerar på luden.
Det innebär att man vänjer sig vid det störande ljudet. På så vis är tanken att man inte hör det om man inte väljer att aktivt lyssna till det.
De olika behandlingarna kan utföras inom den offentliga men även den privata sjukvården i Sverige. Dessutom så finns det exklusiva vårdinrättningar som fungerar som behandlingshem där man bland annat kan behandla tinnitus.
